Abstract
Probabilistic indices for steady-state power system security analysis are suggested for a proper contingency impact evaluation and ranking including substation originated common-cause contingencies. The insecurity level index and the severity index are introduced for overall security evaluation and contingencies ranking, based upon transient, time specific probabilities of the occurrence of contingencies during the review period. The suggested models and security indices are applied for the analysis of the IEEE RT System, for illustration.
