Simulation games are a type of serious game of especial value in patient education since they allow users to train in a virtual environment on how to handle situations that can occur in real life. Effic’Asthme is a simulation game developed for parents of preschool children with asthma. Its aim is to train parents on the management of various exacerbations of asthma that may occur in their children and which are simulated in six different scenarios. For each scenario, the parent must identify the symptoms of asthma exacerbation, follow his/her asthma action plan, and administer the necessary medication using the correct inhalation technique. At the end of each scenario, a debriefing shows parents the right and wrong approaches. This virtual simulator is available free of charge from the Apple Store and Google Play.
