Abstract

A 27-year-old Vietnamese woman, who had undergone one pregnancy and livebirth 5 years previously, had no gynaecological problems, and her medical history was unremarkable. She menstruated regularly with a 28–30 day interval and normal amount of bleeding. She was admitted to the emergency room of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan, in July, 2005, because of sudden onset of severe lower abdominal pain and cold sweating after eating. Physical examination revealed hypotension (blood pressure 56/36 mmHg), distended abdomen, and signs of peritoneal irritation.
