Abstract

Objective To probe into the preventive effect of levonorgestrel releasing intrauterine system on the recurrence of endometrial polyps after hysteroscopic operation. Methods A total of 105 patients with endometrial polyp who experienced the hysteroscopy and laparoscopy operation were divided into observation group and control group by the random number table method. Fifty patients in control group were treated with hysteroscopic endometrial polypectomy, while 55 patients in observation group were treated with levonorgestrel releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) on the basis of treatment in control group. Then, all the patients were followed up at 3, 6 and 9 months, the recurrence of patients and the amount of menstruation before and after surgery were observed. Results The menstrual volume 3 , 6 and 9 months after operation in observation group were lower than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05); the recurrence rate was 1.82% in observation group, and 9.23% in control group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions The application of levonorgestrel releasing intrauterine system after hysteroscopic surgery can reduce the recurrence rate of patients with endometrial polyps, thus it is worthy to be applied.
