Abstract

Otomycosis is one of the most common forms of otitis externa. It is often seen in cases of Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media. It is important to treat otomycosis effectively in cases of CSOM as both conditions worsen each other. To study the aetiology of otomycosis and fungal profile in patients of diagnosed CSOM at ENT Clinic, Udaipur. A total of 100 clinically diagnosed patients of CSOM were enrolled in the study and the samples were obtained from each patient using sterile cotton swab and were studied for fungal profile. The most common fungi found in CSOM are Candida and Aspergillus species. In the present study out of 95 culture positive cases of CSOM, fungi were found in 13 cases (13.68%). Candida species was most common found in 10.52% of all cases and Aspergillus was observed in 3.15% of all cases. Out of all candida species 60% were albicans.
