Abstract

The evolution and structure of pressure perturbations in a liquid-saturated porous medium and liquid-saturated porous media with gas bubbles has been investigated experimentally. The existence of two types of longitudinal pressure waves in consolidated porous media has been confirmed. The set of equations which describes the propagation of pressure waves of finite amplitude in an elastic gas bubble liquid-saturated porous medium was obtained. The pressure wave evolution in saturated porous media has been calculated by the Biot model and a good correlation with the experiment was obtained.
