Abstract

The MnO2@P(AN-VDC)/AC composite fibers were prepared using impregnation and coupling method, respectively. MnO2 particles were dispersed uniformly on the surface of coupling composite fiber using PVA as the coupling agent at the concentration of 6 wt%. The MnO2@P(AN-VDC)/AC composite fibers which was fabricated by coupling method offered better adsorption property towards formaldehyde than that via impregnation procedure. Meanwhile, activated carbon (AC) was also beneficial for the HCHO adsorption. As the increasing of content of activated carbon, the HCHO adsorption amount was enhanced. With the high adsorption efficiency of the P(AN-VDC)/AC fibers and the adsorption affinity of MnO2, the fabricated MnO2@P(AN-VDC)/AC composite fibers provided a way for the removing of the harmful VOC formaldehyde.
