Abstract

A novel Ag2O/Bi12O17Cl2 photocatalyst was prepared through coprecipitation, and crystal structure, surface features, elementary composition, photocatalytic properties were studied. Introduced Ag2O would expedite the separation of photogenerated carriers in Bi12O17Cl2, and greatly expand light response ability. Then, the photocatalytic activity for degrading rhodamine B over Ag2O/Bi12O17Cl2 photocatalyst under visible and infrared light was measured. And Ag2O/Bi12O17Cl2 photocatalyst had good degradation performance. The visible and infrared light degradation rate was 5.4 and 1.5 times more than that of Bi12O17Cl2, and 6.1 and 2.5 times of that of Ag2O, respectively. It is obvious that this paper provides a method for preparing high effective photocatalyst with visible and infrared light.
