Abstract

Reduction of pertechnetate in hot alcoholic solution with 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane in the presence of oxalic acid leads to a mixed ligand complex. Characterization of the compound by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR and mass spectrometry indicates that the oxalic acid ligand coordinates as bidentate. A complete crystal and molecular structure determination, performed on one type of crystal of the paramagnetic oxalato-bis(1,2- bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane)technetium(II), is the first structural characterization of a mixed ligand Tc complex with P and O chelate ligand.
