Abstract

Lanthanum nickelates and cobaltates with a perovskite structure ABO 3 and their intermediate compositions LaNi 1− x Co x O 3 ( x = 0.0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 1.0) have been prepared by co-precipitation precursor technique. These compositions were characterized by XRD, FTIR, AAS and BET surface areas. These compounds show considerable increase in activity of carbon monoxide oxidation to carbon dioxide. An attempt has been made to understand the effect of B-site substitution in the lattice of LaNiO 3 and their correlation with the catalytic activity.
