Abstract

Abstract Y2O3:Yb3+, Ho3+ nanocrystalline powders were prepared via a reverse-strike co-precipitation method, which were agglomerated shown from FESEM image. After dispersing and then coating with SiO2 by Stober method, spherical and uniform particles were obtained. The upconversion luminescent properties of these samples were studied under the excitation of 980 nm. Enhanced upconversion luminescence was observed in the sample coated with SiO2. Possible upconversion mechanism was proposed.
