Abstract

We report on the properties of alkali-fulleride superconductors prepared by the reactions of C60 crystallized in several organic solvents (toluene, CS2, CH2Cl2) with a 1ka li-metals. X-ray diffraction experiments revealed that the structure of solid C60 was related to the solvent for crystallizing it. The structure of solid C60 grown from CH2Cl2 solution, which has not been reported yet, was not identified as fcc or hcp structure. The alkali-fullerides for nominal composition of K3C60 and Rb3C60 were prepared using solid C60 grown from CH2Cl2 solution. Their X-ray diffraction patterns and superconducting transition temperatures were different from those of other alkali-fulleride samples.
