Abstract
Dy3+-doped glass–ceramics containing NaGd(WO4)2 were prepared by melt-quenching technique and subsequent heating. The crystals in the glass–ceramics were identified and analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The XRD and SEM results showed that NaGd(WO4)2 crystals precipitated in the matrix. The emission spectra consist of three emission bands at 487 nm, 575 nm, and 663 nm, respectively. When the doping concentration of Dy3+ ions is 0.8%, the chromaticity coordinates (0.3129, 0.3481) follow CIE 1931 chromaticity diagram, which is close to standard white light emission (0.3333, 0.3333). Dy3+-doped glass–ceramics containing NaGd(WO4)2 have potential applications in ultraviolet excited white light-emitting diodes.
