Abstract

Solid state La-Ti-citrate complexes are isolated from ethylene glycol and water solutions. The elemental composition of the compounds is determined, the 13 C - and 1 H -NMR and IR spectra are analysed, and their thermochemical behaviour is studied. It is found out that the ethylene glycol is present in the complex, prepared at 40 °C, mainly as an adduct with the citric acid. The complex obtained at 120 °C contains ethylene glycol almost entirely as a monocitrate. It is confirmed that in the course of the complex formation a deprotonation of part of the alcoholic OH-groups of the citrate ligands takes place.
