Abstract

This paper presents the results of fatigue tests carried out on ferrocement plates. The plates were subjected to bending by means of a concentrated load applied at their center. For this loading condition, the maximum load causing failure at 1 000 000 cycles was found to be approximately equal to 46% of the ultimate static load of the plate, at a minimum load of 19% of the ultimate load. The deflections measured in the first loading cycle were used to compute the modulus of elasticity of ferrocement in bending. The deflections measured during the life of the specimens are also reported.
