Abstract

The paper refers to the prediction of ship wake in the propeller plane, of an inland navigation vessel. Different theoretical models were applied to determine the coefficient of ship frictional resistance and spatial distribution of flow velocity around the hull. The effects of ship draught and velocity of stream in the river were considered. Frictional resistance coefficient was evaluated for a number of generalised hull shapes using the FLUENT computer software. The results of computations were compared with the available experimental data.
