Prediction of Students’ Growth Mindsets on Their Moods
The aim of the study was to determine the predictive value of individuals' Growth Mindset on their emotional states. The study employed a correlational design within the scope of quantitative research. The independent variables of the study are the Theories of Mind of university students, while the dependent variable is the mood of individuals. The study group consists of university students, with 52.4% being women and 47.6% being men. The study group comprises 10.4% first-year students, 22.6% second-year students, 32.2% third-year students, and 34.8% fourth-year students. Three data collection tools were used within the scope of the research. These are the "Emotion Scale", the "Growth Mindset Scale", and the "Personal Information Form". The relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable in the research was tested with the Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient. The predictive power of the independent variables on the dependent variable in the research was tested with multiple regression. The study results showed a positive significant relationship between the belief in improvement and the effort sub-dimension scores of individuals’ fixed mindsets and the positive emotions sub-dimension of their moods, and a negative significant relationship with the negative emotions sub-dimension. There is a positive significant relationship between the immutability of belief and the procrastination sub-dimension scores of their fixed mindsets, and the negative emotions sub-dimension of their moods, and a negative significant relationship with the positive emotions sub-dimension. According to the research results, individuals’ fixed mindsets predict their moods. As individuals’ fixed-mindset scores increase, they are in a more positive mood. According to the research results, individuals tend to be in a more positive mood as their growth mindset scores increase. For this reason, activities can be carried out to increase the growth mindset of individuals.

In this study, the relationship between pre-service teachers' attitudes towards the teaching profession, their life satisfaction, possible selves and emotional states were examined. This study, in which the quantitative research approach was adopted, was carried out with the relational survey model and was realized with the participation of 685 pre-service teachers. Data were collected in the 2021-2022 Academic Year. Personal information form, “Attitude Scale Towards Teaching Profession”, “Life Satisfaction Scale”, “Pre-service teachers' Possible Self Scale” and “Emotional State Scale” were used as data collection tools. As a result of the analyzes, it was seen that there was a positive and significant relationship between the attitudes of pre-service teachers towards the profession and their life satisfaction, expected possible teacher selves and emotional states. Accordingly, the more the teaching profession is loved and the more it satisfies the teacher, the more it can improve the quality of life in a positive way. In addition, a negative relationship was found between the pre-service teachers' life satisfaction and feared potential teacher selves, and a positive relationship was found between their life satisfaction and emotional states. This result suggests that there is a link between pre-service teachers' overall life satisfaction and their concerns about future teacher roles and responsibilities. Another result of this study is that there is a positive relationship between the pre-service teachers' emotional states and their expected potential teacher selves, and a negative significant relationship between their emotional states and feared possible teacher selves. This result means that pre-service teachers' feared potential teacher self-perceptions may become stronger when they evaluate themselves negatively, have concerns about their professional future, or have negative emotional experiences. According to the results of this study, it is understood that pre-service teachers' attitudes towards the profession are related to both their self-esteem as a teacher and their perception of professionalism.

The purpose of this study is to examine the predictive power of students’ patience on the sub-dimensions of interpersonal patience and long-term patience and short-term patience; the growth mindset and its sub-dimensions of procrastination, belief in invariance, effort and belief in development. The study group of the research consists of 7426 students who are studying in different geographical regions of Türkiye. They were picked for the study by using the progressive sampling method. “Patience Scale” and “Growth Mindset Scale” were used for data collection. In the study, the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable was tested by Pearson product moment correlation coefficient analysis method and the predictive power of independent variables on the dependent variable was tested by multiple regression analysis method. According to the results, the long-term patience and then the interpersonal patience sub-dimension of students’ patience predicts the variability in the procrastination and belief in invariance dimension of their growth mindsets. The long-term patience and then the interpersonal patience sub-dimension of the patience of them predict the variability in the effort and belief in invariance sub-dimension of the developmental traits. It statistically significantly predicts the variability of patience of them in growth mindsets. One of the suggestions developed within the scope of the research findings is to investigate the reasons why the short-term patience dimension does not predict the growth mindset like the other dimensions.

Higher and continuous education help to promote employability in working adults. However, not every working adult has the intention to pursue continuing education courses to stay employable. Growth mindset and perceived support may promote this intention. This study therefore examines the relationships among growth mindset, perceived job and family support, perceived institutional support, and the intention to pursue continuing education courses among working adults. One hundred and sixty six working adults aged between 21 and 70 participated in this study. Significant positive bivariate correlational results were found among growth mindset, perceived job and family support, perceived institutional support, and the intention to enrol in continuing education courses. There was also a significant positive relationship between growth mindset and number of hours the participants worked; and a significant negative relationship between growth mindset and age. Multiple regression results showed that growth mindset was a positive predictor of the intention to pursue continuing education courses, perceived job and family support, as well as perceived institutional support. Interactions among the predictor variables were not significant in the multiple regression analysis. Important implications for researchers, practitioners and policy-makers in continuing education are discussed.
