Abstract

Changes in pattern of the thoracic pigmentation in 4th-stage Toxorhynchites brevipalpis Theobald larvae are proposed as a reliable indicator for estimating of the age of 4th-stage larvae and the time of pupation. This method can be a useful tool in age segregation of field collected Toxorhynchites brevipalpis larvae as well as for segregation of larvae for uniform pupation in mass rearing of these predacious larvae for biological control purposes.
