Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between family factors (resiliency, family communications, religious orientation, parental warmth, parental monitoring) with depression symptoms in adolescences of Isfahan. The sample consisted of 275 high schools students who were selected through Multi-stage cluster sampling method. The instruments were Kutcher adolescent depression Scale, family communications scales, Connor-Davidson resilience scale, religious participation, parent monitoring, and parental warmth questionnaires. The data was analyzed by statistical method including Pearson correlation and multiple regression. The results showed depression was significantly and meaningfully associated with parental monitoring, mother warmth, father warmth, religiousness, family communications and resiliency. The Stepwise regression results indicated that family communications is able to predict depression. Regarding to results, it seems that improving family communications can be efficient in improving of adolescent depression.
