Abstract

AbstractThe positron lifetime is measured in polycrystalline indium in the temperature range between 80 and 420 K. The data show a pronounced prevacancy effect which is fairly well approximated by a straigth line. The results suggest transient dilatation trapping rather than metastable self‐trapping. The occurrence of this effect has some influence on the values deduced for the monovacancy formation enthalpy. In the temperature range below 180 K detrapping of positrons cannot be ruled out.
