Abstract

We propose here to experimentally demonstrate original methods, combining terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) and Kramers-Kronig (KK) relations, to fully characterize in transmission non-classical samples for example exhibiting either low transmission bands, or scattering effect. For such samples, classical THz-TDS extraction process leads to erroneous optical parameters (refractive index and absorption coefficient) whose causal relations are in turn not fulfilled. Therefore, by comparing the measured optical parameters with those calculated using the KKR, we can estimate the error and thus correct it to precisely characterize the sample.
