Abstract
Microwave Humidity and Temperature Sounder (MWHTS) and the Microwave Temperature Sounder (MWTS) are two sensors onboard the Fengyun-3D (FY-3D) polar-orbiting meteorological satellite to detect the atmospheric humidity and temperature, respectively. Not only that, these two sensors also have a certain ability to detect precipitation. Channels of MWHTS designed near 118. 75-GHz and the channels of MWTS designed near 50-60-GHz are used to detect the atmospheric vertical temperature distribution. In this paper, the global ocean and land precipitation retrieval have been studied combining the MWHTS and MWTS. The results show that three groups of channels from the sensors, (118.75+2.5-GHz and 52.8-GHz), (118.75+3.0-GHz and 51.76-GHz) and (118.75+5.0-GHz and 50.3-GHz), improve the accuracy of global ocean and land precipitation retrieval, especially the land precipitation retrieval effect. This brings new ideas and methods to enhance the application of land precipitation retrieval in the future.
