Abstract

The morphology and crystallography of γ precipitation at deformation twin boundaries of α were investigated using an (α+γ) two-phase stainless steel. Predominant nucleation at the deformation twin boundaries, particularly at the deformation twin junctions and/or the irregularities at the deformation twin boundaries, was observed. The γ particles precipitated at the deformation twin boundaries were observed to have a wall-like morphology along the twin boundaries. These γ precipitates are specific K-S variants with both the matrix and the deformation twin
