Abstract
The Honourable Prime Minister of India announced the beginning of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) on May 1, 2016. The scheme's primary goal is to give women from low-income households access to LPG connections without requiring a payment. The government's goal was to provide 5 crore LPG connections to low-income families in rural India, with a focus on women living below the poverty line (BPL). Later, the goal was raised to 8 crore, which was accomplished on September 7, 2019, seven months ahead of schedule, under the Ujjwala Yojana Scheme, which went under the slogan "Swachh Indhan, Behtar Jeevan.
