Abstract

An adaptive implicit method utilizing different degrees of implicitness on a cell by cell basis is discussed. Techniques for solving the Jacobian of the system using an incomplete LU factorization are presented, and criteria for switching cells from explicit to implicit are investigated. Results for several sample problems show that substantial savings in execution time can be obtained with this technique.
