Abstract

We designed three-and five-pole HTS filters with superconducting bulk resonators. We used MW-Studio software to simulate the frequency responses and current densities of these HTS filters. We estimated that the power-handling capability of the five-pole bulk filter was about 1.7 times higher than that of the three-pole bulk filter from the simulation results. We fabricated these HTS filters and measured their frequency responses and power-handling capabilities at 20 K. The five-pole bulk filter showed sharper skirt characteristic that is approximately 2.1 times than that of the three-pole bulk filter, and the power-handling capabilities of the three-and five-pole bulk filters were 41.7 and 114 W, respectively. Therefore, we clarified that the five-pole bulk filter was more suitable for a steep skirt characteristic and a high power-handling capability than the three-pole bulk filter.
