Abstract

In this paper, we aim to improve power efficiency by using CMOS rectifier for power-amplifier-inserted transversal filter (PAITF). The 180° hybrid used in PAITF has a function to collect out-of-band quantization noise (QN) power. This noise power is recovered by the differential-drive CMOS full-wave rectifier without a resonator and used for DC supply power to improve power efficiency. A computer simulation shows that power-added efficiency improves by about 4% by recovering QN by the rectifier.
