Abstract

Although Free Space Optical (FSO) system is an effective solution for high-rate transmission, it is sensitive to the environment. To combat weather turbulence, cooperative FSO system is proposed to promote diversity gain. Power allocation is an important issue in cooperative FSO system, which impacts the system throughput and reliability. In this paper, we focus on the problem of power allocation maximizing throughput of cooperative FSO system, which is a NP-hard problem. A heuristic algorithm is proposed to generate the near-optimal solution for power allocation. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can significantly improve the performance of cooperative FSO system in throughput and reliability.
