Abstract
Postural hypotension may pose problems in patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD).(1,2) We have previously noted plasma glucose levels as high as 13 mmole/liter in nondiabetic subjects undergoing hypertonic CAPD exchanges (Adam, personal communication). Glucose ingestion may worsen postural hypotension in nonuremic elderly subjects.(3) The aim of our study was to test the hypothesis that glucose ingestion in CAPD patients is associated with postural hypotension.
