Abstract

Garbage is a problem that is often encountered in everyday life, so the condition of waste requires special attention, especially in the trash can. The condition of the trash bin must always be ready to be filled and when it is full it must be immediately disposed of in a final disposal site, otherwise, it will result in garbage piling up and scattered. Checking the condition of the waste carried out by the owner is still slow and consumes a lot of energy, all because the owner of the trash can still have to check all the trash cans one by one. In this study, a portable trash bin capacity detection system was created, using an Android-based Arduino. This system can help the trash owner monitor the trash capacity so that the owner no longer needs to check all the trash cans one by one. The data collection technique used is through a literature study. The test results show that the system created can function as expected. Overall the system can work well. The system can measure distance through the Ultrasonic Sensor at the top with an average error of 0.99%, and through the VL53L0X sensor on the left and right with an average error of 1.65%. SIM900 connection with Arduino nano and the Internet is successful. Tests on trash cans that are filled according to empty, little, medium, almost full, and full conditions, monitoring on the application page is by the conditions in the trash.
