Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of Ponseti method in the early treatment of con-genital clubfoot. Methods Forty children with congenital clubfoot (aged 7 days to 6 months) were managed with Ponseti method including manipulations, serial long leg cast, and wearing brace after removal of the cast. Results All the children were followed up for average 24 months, with the longest time of 6 years. The deformities of the feet were rectified in all the children, with a ideal rectification rate of 100%. Conclusions Ponseti method has a satisfactory effect on congenital clubfoot. It is less expensive, miminally invasive, simple,and easy to master and popularize. Key words: Congenital clubfoot; Treatment; Ponseti method
