Abstract

Copper nanoparticle on polyaniline support was synthesised by using in situ polymerisation and composite formation technique. This metal polymer nanocomposites material is found to be efficient for homocoupling of terminal alkynes which afford symmetrical 1,4-disubstituted 1,3-diynes in excellent yields under a mild reaction condition using piperidine as a base and dichloromethane at room temperature within 1–8 h. The reusability of the catalyst was also investigated and found to yield excellent yields upto six cycles without losing significant activity.
