Abstract

This article attempts to present the system of police negotiations in Poland, which is one of the ways to save human life and health in crisis situations, without the use of force. The article presents the issue of police negotiations as one of the tools used by the commander of police operations to solve crisis situations involving persons demonstrating a suicide act, taking and holding hostages, occurrences of a terrorist event, occupation or blocking of facilities and communication routes, the threat of using weapons, a dangerous tool , device or material. The article attempts to characterize the process of creating a police negotiator, from a candidate for a police negotiator, through his selection, criteria he must meet, basic training, becoming a police negotiator, to appointment to the negotiating team to save human life and health, and supplementary training.
