Abstract

In this work, the ultrasonic velocimetry and attenuation method (UVAM) are applied to investigate the polarization behavior of PSZTC 0.5/53/47, PZTN 1/54/46 and PLZT x/54/46 ceramic materials. The longitudinal and transverse velocities of sound and the attenuation coefficient were obtained. By using the UVAM, the breakdown field values, the dopant influence, the soft/hard doping character, and the behavior of the mechanical quality factor, were obtained as functions of the polarization field. Some results attained via the UVAM are compared to those obtained by the resonance-antiresonance method (RAM). Such comparison favors the UVAM over the RAM.
