Abstract
The measurement results of polarization characteristics of ultrawideband pulses reflected from metal objects of different sizes are presented. A transmitting antenna array of 2x2 combined antennas with linear polarization was used. The antenna array was excited with a bipolar voltage pulse of duration 0.5 ns. Pulses reflected from metal objects were recorded by a dual-polarized receiving antenna array. A polarization structure of the pulses reflected from the objects was measured in the presence and absence of a dielectric barrier between the transceiver and the objects. The influence of the wall inhomogeneities on the polarization characteristics was demonstrated.
