Abstract

Health Information Technology (HIT) includes electronic health records (EHR) maintained by healthcare providers (HCP) and personal health records (PHR) used by individuals. Despite the benefits of PHR to patients, payers, and clinicians, PHR adoption remains low and racial disparities in PHR use exist. We determined the racial/ethnic disparities in PHR adoption and factors that can reduce such disparities.
