Abstract
This Paper emphasis the grid connected Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator(PMSG) based off-shore wind energy conversion system interfaced with the Single Active Bridge(SAB) converter. The SAB converter includes controlled Voltage Source Converter, High Frequency Transformer and uncontrolled rectifier. For enhanced operation of grid connected PMSG based wind driven generator a novel topology is proposed. In this scheme, PMSG with uncontrolled rectifier will convert the line to line voltage to dc voltage. DC voltage will be given to the primary of the transformer winding through the controlled converter. This proposed topology increases generation voltage and also provides galvanic isolation between the grid and wind generator. Due to high frequency operation power density increases hence the size is reduced for the same VA rating. The rectified secondary voltage of the single active bridge is grid synchronized through the grid tied 3-phase inverter. Switching of the inverter is controlled using the hysteresis control. For validation, the simulation is carried out by considering 2MW PMSG based wind driven generator interfaced to grid through SAB converter using MATLAB/Simulink.
