Abstract

A brief overview is given of the status of planned public special data networks as at the end of 1975. The range of data facilities on the public-switched telephone network is described; some line-switched data networks are considered; some packet-switched networks under development are discussed. In addition to national activities, a number of international ones are considered. Some of these are of a specialised nature for one industry, others are more general. In this connection, some work on the interconnection of data networks is mentioned.
