Abstract

Recognizing a golden opportunity for her fourth graders, Harmien Dionne presented this problem to her class at John Caldwell School in the officially bilingual town of Grand Falls/Grand-Sault, New Brunswick, Canada. The end of the school year was approaching, and they were planning a pizza party of their own. At the same time, she and her students were working on fractions in math class. This seemed like an ideal time to bring pizza and fractions together.
