Abstract

The CT, MR and pathologic features of a case of pituitary adenoma with endocrinological dysfunction and neuroendocrine-like features at histology are presented. The diagnosis was confirmed by the immunohistochemical demonstration of prolactin and synaptophysin immunoreactivity The pathological features and the possible pathogenesis of intrasellar tumours arising from the neural crest are discussed.
