Abstract

The structure of piperazine-1,4-diium piperazin-1-ium metavanadate trihydrate, (C 4 H 11 N 2 )(C 4 H 12 N 2 )V 3 O 9 .-3H 2 O, is orthorhombic, space group Pbca, and contains infinite (V 3 O 9 3- ) n chains running along the b axis of the unit cell. These chains form layers running parallel to the (100) plane. The protonated piperazine molecules and three molecules of water are located between the (V 3 O 9 3- ) n chains, forming hydrogen bonds which contribute to the stabilization of the structure.
