Abstract

It is possible to sinter PbTiO 3 ceramics after forming a solid solution with Pb(Cd 1 2 W 1 2 ) O 3 . Piezoelectric properties of this system were improved by adding a small amount of MnO 2 and NiO. Typical electromechanical and dielectric constants of Pb(Ti 0.96( Cd 1 2 W 1 2 ) 0.04) O 3 with 0.3 wt % MnO 2 and 0.4 wt % NiO added are as follows: coupling factors are K t and 0.46 and K p 0.08, mechanical quality factor Q M is 1,700, dielectric constant ε T 33 ϵ 0 is 180 and Curie point T c is 450°C. Thickness mode third-harmonic resonance frequency temperature coefficient is −0.05% from 20 to 80°C. Based on these properties, this system is judged to be suitable for practical devices at high temperatures and in the high frequency region.
