Abstract

Density labelling experiments demonstrate that when dark-grown mustard seedlings are irradiated with far-red light a greater increase in bouyant density of ascorbic acid oxidase may be found in the light treatment than in the appropriate dark control. This probably indicates that phytochrome controls the rate of synthesis of the oxidase although the effects of degradation cannot be entirely ignored.
