Abstract

This article presents fundamental notions to understanding the emergent Physical Cultural Studies/PCS field. Through a descriptive-theoretical approach, the authors reflect on the genesis and development of PCS and focus on two key concepts: “physical culture” and “embodiment”. The discussions provide subsidies for approaches that are draw themselves as critical and committed to social changes, with a view to a fruitful dialogue between researchers who are involved with this field in the Brazilian scenario.
