Abstract

Physical and optical properties of lutetium sodium borate glasses have been examined. A series of glass samples with the different chemical composition xLu2O3:20Na2O:(80-x)B2O3 (where x = 5, 10, 15 and 20 mol%) were successfully fabricated by a melt quenching technique and their properties were investigated through various techniques include density, absorption, and X-ray diffraction. The amorphous nature was confirmed by the presence of a broad hump in the XRD pattern. The relevance parameters related physical and optical properties have been calculated and discussed.
