Abstract

ABSTRACTA 5‐year, 6‐month old black male came to the dental office for routine restorative dentistry. There were no orofacial signs of physical abuse. Because of the patient's previous uncontrollable behavior, a sedative premedication was administered intramuscularly into the left buttock. The injection site revealed several bruises. Further examination of lower back, buttocks, and legs showed a multitude of bruises. Dentists and auxiliary personnel should not limit their examination to the orofacial complex when administering medications to other parts of the body.
