Abstract

In following experiments the Ru(bipy) 2 3 +/ H 2 SO 4/n- TiO 2- system in regard to its water splitting ability was investigated. The studies concern the influence of various parameters, such as initial Ru(bipy) 2 3 +-concentration , preparation, grain size and amount of the used TiO 2-powder in the suspension, pH of the solution as well as conditions during the illumination of the system. The yield of the produced hydrogen and oxygen was determined and based on this possible reaction mechanisms were presented.
