Abstract
In this report we have studied, the photophysics of three different styryl derivatives in the presence of γ-CD by using steady-state absorption, fluorescence emission, and time-resolved fluorescence emission measurements. We have also studied the effect of cholesterol, and dopamine on the styryl dyes and γ-CD complexes. From the experimental result, we have seen that the guest molecule forms a 1:1 complex with γ-CD through hydrophobic interaction. The increasing decay time in the presence of the host is due to the slowdown of intramolecular rotation of styryl dye around the single bond due to penetration of the dye into the γ-CD cavity. We observed that the dyes experience a less polar microenvironment in the cavity of γ-CD, and the dimethylamino part of dye situated at the periphery and another end of dye is inside the cavity of γ-CD. The photophysics of styryl dye-γ-CD complex changes remarkably in the presence of cholesterol and dopamine, respectively due to the interaction with dimethylamino part of the dye.
