Abstract

We model YBa2Cu3O7 as a collection of free atoms and use a local-density based random phase approximation (LDRPA) to calculate photoionization cross sections in the 0–140 eV photon energy range. The spectrum is dominated by atomic core transitions, like the Ba 5p-d giant dipole resonance. We also present results for resonant photoemission around the O 2s threshold.
