Abstract

Abstract The photoinduced graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto Nylon-6 was studied with Pyronin-G as the photoinitiator using a phosphate—citrate (Na 2 HPO 4 —citric acid) buffer system. The effect of the monomer, initiator and ascorbic acid etc. on the graft yield was investigated. The process was studied within the temperature range 35 – 50 °C, and the energy of activation was computed from the Arrhenius plot. A suitable mechanism is suggested and the rate expression is derived for the grafting process.
